What’s in a box?
Fragmented bits of life pass through our consciousness
and unconsciousness at every moment:

snippets of conversation,
glimpses of faces,
a woman in her kitchen,
a song on a passing radio,
emotions evoked by a stranger,

pieces of paper in your pocket,
rusty objects on the ground,
the smell of hot asphalt,
flower petals,
changing sky,
lights,
signs.

These fragments fold into the contained
ordered space of a box. When closed, the box
retain one’s sense of unseen meaning of
everyday events and objects. When open,
meaning is revealed.
